ALS, Lou Gehrig's Disease, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis ...
a disease with many names still ends
in death 100% of the time
Layman's terms- a terminal disease with no cure that affects nerves in your brain and spinal cord.
Sabrina's terms- a terminal disease with no cure that basically makes your paralyzed stealing muscle by muscle.
ALS does not care if you are young or old, the color of your skin, or where you went to college. ALS does not care if you ran a marathon or binged watched Netflix. ~90% of the time ALS is sporadic, like winning the unluckiest lotto. ~10% of the time you can have what is called familiar ALS where a mutation in your genes continues to be passed down the family tree.
Every 90 minutes a families life is changing from ALS, they are either being diagnosed or passing away.
